About Shehady’s Oriental Rug Cleaning & Repair
My name is Wade Shehady and I have been cleaning, hand repairing, restoring and appraising oriental rugs for over 40 years.
Rugs have been in my life since as far back as I could remember.
Over these past 40 years I’ve cleaned, repaired and restored every type of rug imaginable from modern machine synthetic rugs to a 16th century Isfahan rug hand woven by a master.
To me fine handwoven rugs are more than just decoration for a home – they are beautiful images, stories and history all woven into pieces of fine art you can walk on.
As time moves forward into the 21st century, much of the what has gone into the making of fine area rugs is slowly being lost – especially the knowledge and history that makes older rugs extremely valuable.
Nothing gives me more pleasure than to share everything I know about rugs. I have made it my mission to preserve as much knowledge of the beauty, history and art of fine rugs as I can by passing what I know to others.
That’s why for many years I have been teaching classes to people from all around the world on how to identify where a rug was woven, how to estimate a rug’s age and how to repair them.
